Saturday Trip to.... Austin

Saturday, June 12

Saturday began not so well. When I woke up, I had to wake up early so that we could make it downstairs for breakfast by 7:30 a.m, so I woke up like they, the RAs, told me to only to find out that we didn't have to come down until 7:45. If I had known that, then I would have still be working on my hair since I wasn't really down curling it. The walk to Sbisa was a long and sweaty walk; by the time I got there I had already sweated out my curls, it was ridiculous. When I finally got inside Sbisa what awaited me was a horde of football players, all sweaty and musty smelling. I felt like making myself some waffles, but was told not to, but I didn't lessen; I had, had my mind set on making my own waffles and I was going to get some. Breakfast was eaten in a rush, but I was able to eat quickly enough. The walk to the bus station seemed like the longest thing ever but it wasn't, it was just around the corner. I quickly got on the seat, claimed a spot and placed my bag on the other side to reserve a row for myself. As soon as the bus ride began, I just went to sleep and didn't wake up until I got there.

As soon as I stepped off the bus, the first thing that greeted me was the heat. It was so hot, I nearly about passed out from heat luckily I had a bottle of water and took a swig of that. Luckily my group was the first one to go inside the museum and I was so happy to get out of the sun. I didn't think that I had enough time to go through the entire museum, but it was still better than outside. The lecture was alright but it didn't interest me that much at all, I guess I was too focused on the mosquitoes biting my legs. Lunch was alright, but I finally got out of the shade.

When we headed downtown, I wasn't sure what to expect at all because I wasn't sure what type of music I would be exposed to in Austin. When I found out that the concert was outside in the burning weather, pardon my French but I about just nearly cursed. The sun and I are not friends at all. Ten minutes into the concert, I began to sweat buckets of sweat that my shirt was clinging to my skin. I spent about 45 minutes in the restroom cooling off, then made my way to the back where the iced tea and water was. After an hour or so of very enjoyable music and a discussion it was dinner time. I was in the mood for a steak but got a buffet that had the options between meatloaf or fried chicken, I went with fried chicken by the way, with a side of mash potatoes and green beans. Dessert was a disaster, I hate peach cobbler, and then it was time to go home.

The ride back was louder than the route to Austin, but somehow I managed to go to sleep. Two hours later, we were back in College Station and I head over to my neighbor's room, after taking a shower of course, and watched the movie, Taken. After about an hour or two into the music I went to sleep still wondering if I should go to breakfast the next day.
