Almost there...

Wednesday, June 23

Today was a better day then yesterday, if anyone forgets that I only had about four hours of sleep. The day was the same old, same old. I went to breakfast, then I went to visual culture were we presented out artworks and discussed what inspired us to do it. After I was done with that I went to Ethics were we watched the movie Doubt and I just didn't know what to think at all because I was confused; I was full of doubt.
After lunch we went to a lecture. The first lecturer, was an actual artist, who was really funny, then some slam poets, who were friends of Chris. I must confess I did fall asleep yesterday because I was just so tired from staying up yet again, but I really enjoyed the whole thing. Dinner was good, I finally got a steak, somewhat, then I went back to my dorm and painted. After I was done painting, everyone went their separate ways and I was left, with two others, to clean up their mess. I rehearsed my play with my group, ate some pizza, stayed up again, and went to sleep at 1:30 a.m. and finished my auto-ethnography. Successful day!
Tuesday, June 22

So today I work kind of tired, kind of stressed out about the day, but I was really excited about the raffle with AT&T. Breakfast went by really quickly, I really think that breakfast drags on forever. The first class I had today was Visual Culture and we talked about different artist again and began working on installing my artwork with my group members. This project went by really quickly and we managed to finish it early. After Visual Culture, I went to Multicultural Education class, but we went to a stadium to work on practicing our plays. My group got it down for the most part, but we still had to practice some more.
After that was lunch and then we went to three lectures and I stayed awake for everything, but I was still kind of tired. After that those who finished their work, for the most part, got to go to Kyle Fields for the chance to win an iPad, but everything went wrong. They were out of raffles, they wouldn't let us sit down, nor would they let us get pizza.
I was sooo sweaty by the time I got back that I took a long, extremely long, shower and then went to open lab in the technology room to finish up my multimedia project for Multicultural Education.
When I got back to the dorm, I borrowed a friend's laptop and then stayed up until 2 a.m. to work on my auto-ethnography.

Here and There

Saturday, June 19

I woke up this morning feeling very tired because I didn't get enough sleep because I was up working late at night. I ate a light breakfast and before I knew it I was sitting on the bus heading home to Houston. The bus ride, well I don't remember it much, because I slept during the entire ride. The first place I visited as soon as I got off the bus my group and I got to enter the Contemporary Art Museum and I got to see a variety of different artist. After I was done cruising through the museum, it was time to go to the Glasswell School of Arts. I was a little bit upset that I didn't get to go to the gift-shop at the museum.

At the school I was able to take as many pictures as I wanted, which was great because I really wanted to satiate my photographer side. I took a bunch of pictures some embarrassing and awkward but I really enjoyed myself. While there I was inspired by all the artwork that I got my inspiration for my multimedia project for my auto-ethnography. After we were done with the school, we ate lunch at the Sculpture Garden and I enjoyed a really good lunch and took some more photos.

Before I could finish taking all the photos I wanted to, it was time to head towards the Alley Heather and watch, Intelligence Slave, which was really good. Certain scenes had me cringing at the way spit flew as they spoke and some violent scenes, but for the most part I enjoyed everything.

After the play, we went to the HardRock Cafe and I actually got a say on what I wanted to eat for dinner. I decided that I wanted to eat a cheeseburger, which was alright but the burger could have been better but the fries were all right. Ruben brought a sundae for everyone to share and it was really good. The next thing I knew it was time to head back to College Station and I slept throughout the whole ride. I was still debating whether or not to go to breakfast, but I stayed up finishing up Taken.

Sunday, June 20

I woke up 15 minutes until it was time to go to lunch. I was so tired I managed to dress in 10 minutes and made it time for lunch. After lunch, I quickly signed up for laundry because I wanted to get some of my clothes clean and just feel all fresh and clean. I washed my clothes quickly and then headed off to dinner because it was 4:45. Dinner went by quickly and I went to stuff my clothes in the dryer, but I accidentally restarted the washer because my butt pushed a button, my bad. My clothes dried quickly because I didn't have a lot and then I went to my friend's room to work on my auto-ethnography because it was due Wednesday, but I really spent the majority of my time listening to music. I don't remember much about this day, but all I knew was that I was sooo tired and went to sleep.

Monday, June 21

Monday was a hectic day. Since I didn't take a shower the day before I had to wake up early so that I wouldn't be all stinky. Breakfast was really good because I had biscuits, bacon, and orange juice. The first class I had that day was Visual Culture and we worked on our final project. My group and I came up with our ideas but we're not going to start on it until Wednesday, the day it is due and we also watched a video about performance art using projection. After Visual Culture I went to Ethics and we watched another video as well about moral skill and will. After the video we had an interesting discussion and we talked about what we would do in certain situation. After Ethics was lunch and I feasted like I never feasted before, but I regret doing so because by dinner I was too full to eat anything. I went to study hall and worked on my auto-ethnography and I got it done which was a greata success in my own opinion. After that I pretty much chilled and did nothing except eat pizza.

The Next Day and more classes

Monday, June 14

Today was an alright day so far. I woke up too tired and hungry, and practically had to force myself out of bed so I could make it down stairs on time. My hair was a complete mess, but I managed to get there fast enough, so we could beat all those kids who were here for some weeks. After breakfast the first class that I had was technology, I was so glad to get the Macbooks, so I could get on the Internet and update my twitter and face book. I need to work hard and finish my project for technology, so I wont let my teammates down.
My next class was Multiculturalism and we only had to worry about brainstorming ideas for the ideas that were given to us. The true purpose of the assignment was to show how the class participated hegemony, which is oppression. The group that Mrs. Rose decided to pick on, were all so angry, to put it lightly, that she decided to single them out and put them down. After understanding how teachers can be biased unconsciously and having a huge discussion about it, my group members and I worked hard to pick out ideas for a play we had to do. We had a good idea but it was shot down because the emphasize, apparently, was being placed on something else.
As soon as 12:30 hit, the class and I ran out of there and headed towards lunch at Sbisa. As we were walking, we noticed a huge crowd of kids also making there way to Sbisa, as well. Well I didn't want to wait at all, so I began to run and when everyone else saw them as well, they began to run to. We made it there before them, so I was especially pleased with myself since I was wearing sandals and was holding a huge bag on one wrist.

After lunch, I went to Scoates Hall and there I had to listen to three lectures. The first lecture was about student servants and the student body president of TAMU spoke to us about his job as student body president and how to be an effective leader. The next speaker, Mr. Lopez, talked about financial aid and even shared a personal story about how he didn't know if he would ever make it to college and all the obstacles that he faced; I was really touched by the whole thing. The information Mr. Lopez shared was so helpful, that I even called my parents to let them know. The third lecture was about multiculturalism on campus. I was shocked to find out that only 5% of the 49,000 students that attend TAMU are minorities! That's really little. The whole point of the lecture was to tell people, who are minorities, how they can become active on campus and not be swept up by the crowd, it was all about finding your niche.

The last presentation, and the most enjoyable in my opinion, were the Yelleaders. Five guys came up to us to talk about their jobs as the school's Yelleaders, a substitute for cheerleaders since there are no cheerleaders at all. They showed us some of their cheers and made us participate in them, so that we could get a taste of TAMU spirit and tradition.

After that was dinner, which went by pretty quickly, seven of us, myself included, went to Starbucks to drink coffee and just chill. I realized that certain people, they know themselves aren't the best in being in public space and can be a tad bit too loud. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato and then a caramel frapachino to go. I gossiped for a while with some friends, attempted to do my hair, took a shower, attempted to do my hair again but failed, and then finally went to sleep just so tired.

Sunday, the rest day

Sunday, June 13

Well, I didn't go to breakfast at all; in fact, I was too tired to even wake up that when I did wake up it was already 11 a.m. I had an hour and thirty before lunch was about to start. I didn't even bother to fix my hair, I just went down there and had a good lunch, but there was one down-side. There was this flux of children there, taking up all the space and consuming everything.

After lunch, the RAs decided that we could chill after lunch and get our laundry done. I managed to claw my way into the massive group of other teens, all wanting to wash their clothes, and managed to get a time slot at 2 p.m. I spent thirty minutes sorting out what I was going to wash, and then I realized that I didn't know where the Laundromat was at all. I thought originally that it wouldn't take to long, but it took two hours and a half to get everything done; I didn't get any chill time at all.

Dinner came and went, it wasn't the greatest at all, but it was fine. Since we had chill time in the afternoon, we had to do an activity right after dinner. We played freeze tag, where all the RAs where it and well the object of the game was really simple. After freeze tag, we played red light, yellow light, and green light, and the object of the game was just like driving. Zoom by quickly when it was green, slow down when its yellow, and come to a complete stop when it was red. We played two times and the second time, someone could actually win a pizza if they won. I was close but I didn't win.
After all that excitement I just went too sleep because I was too tired.

Saturday Trip to.... Austin

Saturday, June 12

Saturday began not so well. When I woke up, I had to wake up early so that we could make it downstairs for breakfast by 7:30 a.m, so I woke up like they, the RAs, told me to only to find out that we didn't have to come down until 7:45. If I had known that, then I would have still be working on my hair since I wasn't really down curling it. The walk to Sbisa was a long and sweaty walk; by the time I got there I had already sweated out my curls, it was ridiculous. When I finally got inside Sbisa what awaited me was a horde of football players, all sweaty and musty smelling. I felt like making myself some waffles, but was told not to, but I didn't lessen; I had, had my mind set on making my own waffles and I was going to get some. Breakfast was eaten in a rush, but I was able to eat quickly enough. The walk to the bus station seemed like the longest thing ever but it wasn't, it was just around the corner. I quickly got on the seat, claimed a spot and placed my bag on the other side to reserve a row for myself. As soon as the bus ride began, I just went to sleep and didn't wake up until I got there.

As soon as I stepped off the bus, the first thing that greeted me was the heat. It was so hot, I nearly about passed out from heat luckily I had a bottle of water and took a swig of that. Luckily my group was the first one to go inside the museum and I was so happy to get out of the sun. I didn't think that I had enough time to go through the entire museum, but it was still better than outside. The lecture was alright but it didn't interest me that much at all, I guess I was too focused on the mosquitoes biting my legs. Lunch was alright, but I finally got out of the shade.

When we headed downtown, I wasn't sure what to expect at all because I wasn't sure what type of music I would be exposed to in Austin. When I found out that the concert was outside in the burning weather, pardon my French but I about just nearly cursed. The sun and I are not friends at all. Ten minutes into the concert, I began to sweat buckets of sweat that my shirt was clinging to my skin. I spent about 45 minutes in the restroom cooling off, then made my way to the back where the iced tea and water was. After an hour or so of very enjoyable music and a discussion it was dinner time. I was in the mood for a steak but got a buffet that had the options between meatloaf or fried chicken, I went with fried chicken by the way, with a side of mash potatoes and green beans. Dessert was a disaster, I hate peach cobbler, and then it was time to go home.

The ride back was louder than the route to Austin, but somehow I managed to go to sleep. Two hours later, we were back in College Station and I head over to my neighbor's room, after taking a shower of course, and watched the movie, Taken. After about an hour or two into the music I went to sleep still wondering if I should go to breakfast the next day.

Second day; First day of class

On Monday, June 7, I went to my first official Governor’s school class and the first thing that I had to do was wake up. I felt like I was still going to school; I mean isn’t this college? Where is the waking up when you want to? But I learned that this wasn’t the case. Breakfast was good on the first day, and right after that I had to go to my first class, Visual culture. I don’t know how I feel about Visual culture but I am sure that with time I will like it better. After that, I went to Ethics and I learned about what makes Ethics, Ethics. Lunch was all right and the activity was fine as well. The first activity I did was bracelet making and I really got to know my roommate better since we decided that we were going to work on it together. After the bracelet making, I decided to take a shower and just go to sleep at ten o'clock, since I was so tired.
